# Databuddy

The `databuddy` module adds an `Analytics` component to `apps/web` and `apps/dashboard` that renders the `@databuddy/sdk` script with web vitals on. It is off by default.

```bash
findplate create my-app --modules databuddy
```

## What it adds

Files and folders:

- `apps/web/components/analytics.tsx`
- `apps/dashboard/components/analytics.tsx`

Packages:

- `@databuddy/sdk`

## Env keys

```bash
NEXT_PUBLIC_DATABUDDY_CLIENT_ID=
```

Create a website in [Databuddy](https://app.databuddy.cc) and set its client id. With the id empty nothing is tracked. `NEXT_PUBLIC_*` is inlined at `next build`, so pass it as a build arg in Docker and Dokploy.

## Remove

Run `findplate remove databuddy` in the project, see [add and doctor](https://plate.findmalek.engineer/docs/add-doctor.md#findplate-remove). It deletes the files the module owns, strips its code from shared files and drops its packages, only where you haven't edited them.

If you'd rather do it by hand: for a new project leave `databuddy` out of `--modules`. In a project that already exists, delete the paths above, drop its packages from the `package.json` files, remove its env block and fix what `pnpm check-types` reports.

## Swap

Use [Umami](https://plate.findmalek.engineer/docs/umami.md) for a self-hosted alternative. The two do not depend on each other.
